At Livingston Elementary, we use PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) to create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for all our students. Here's how PBIS works at our school:

Teaching Positive Behaviors: At Livingston, we make sure students know what good behavior looks like in different areas—whether it's in the classroom, hallways, or playground. We teach these expectations clearly, just like we would any subject, so all students understand how to be respectful, responsible, and safe.

Celebrating Good Choices: When students show positive behavior, they are recognized! This might be through praise, special rewards, or fun events. Celebrating these good choices motivates students to continue doing their best.

Addressing Behaviors: If a student struggles with following the rules, we help them learn from their mistakes. Our goal is to guide students toward better choices by using consistent and fair consequences, while also helping them understand how to improve.

Supporting All Students: PBIS at Livingston Elementary is for everyone, but we know some students may need extra help. For those who need additional support, we provide personalized assistance to ensure they succeed.

By using PBIS, at Livingston we aim to create a positive and caring school environment where students feel safe, supported, and motivated to make good choices every day!

What are PBIS Rewards?

PBIS rewards are part of a system used in schools to encourage positive behaviors in students. The goal is to create a safe, respectful, and responsible school environment by recognizing and reinforcing good/positive behavior.

How It Works:

  • Students earn points or rewards when they demonstrate positive behaviors like being respectful, following rules, or helping others.
  • Teachers and staff can give these points using a simple app or system, so students can track their progress.
  • Over time, students can use their earned points to "purchase" rewards or participate in special activities.

Why It’s Important:

  • PBIS rewards help teach and reinforce good behavior in a fun and engaging way.
  • By focusing on positive behavior, students are more likely to make good choices and feel proud of their accomplishments.
  • This system helps reduce negative behaviors, making the school a more positive environment for everyone.

Parent(s)/Guardian(s) you can support PBIS at home by asking your child/children about the rewards they’ve earned and encouraging similar positive behaviors at home. It's a great way to build a connection between home and school expectations!
