We had an amazing time visiting with author Angela DiTerlizzi this week!

She shared her new book, The Curious Why. with our first and second graders.  Our students had a blast, asked some great questions, and even got to take a copy of the book home... before it hit the shelves!

Bradley Community Connection Meetings

Dr. Duke Bradley, III, the newly appointed Superintendent of Newton County School System (NCSS), is poised to take office on Tuesday, October 24, at 3:30 PM. The official swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Newton County School System Central Administrative Office in the E. Wendell Clamp Board Room, an event where all are welcome. A brief community reception will follow, underscoring Dr. Bradley's commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.

Dr. Bradley has promptly charted an extensive course of action for his initial week, by announcing a series of public Community Connection meetings across the district. These gatherings will be open to NCSS employees, parents, and community stakeholders, fostering collaborative dialogue and a sense of unity. The schedule for these meetings is as follows:

  • Wednesday, October 25 - Alcovy High School, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Thursday, October 26 - Eastside High School, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
  • Monday, October 30 - Newton High School, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM

These events are designed to provide an opportunity for Dr. Bradley to formally introduce himself to the community and to engage in informal dialogue.

Dr. Bradley states, "I am truly excited about the prospect of meeting and engaging with the incredible community that supports Newton County School System. Open communication and transparency are paramount in our mission to provide the best education for our students. I look forward to these meetings as a platform for building strong relationships and collectively working towards a brighter future."

The NCSS community is encouraged to attend these meetings and share their perspectives as they collectively embark on this journey with Dr. Bradley.

Parent Volunteer Orientation:

We will host our first virtual orientation on Tuesday, August 15th via Zoom @ 5:30pm-6:00pm. Followed by the Title One Meeting at 6:00pm.

If you’re interested in volunteering at the school, you must attend an orientation. Only parents who have gone through the orientation will be allowed to chaperone field trips and help with classroom events.

To protect our students, we want to ensure that all adults interacting with them understand our school’s expectations and beliefs. If you attended the orientation last year, you do NOT need to attend again this year. We have you on the list. Thank you

****Both meetings are using the same link.
